Le Jardin Secret, Marakech designed by Tom Stuart Smith

Sometimes when you're designing gardens it helps to get some inspiration from other designers whose work you admire.
Been looking at Le Jardin Secret (the Secret Garden) designed or renovated by Tom Stuart Smith.
Situated in Marakech in Morocco, the garden was in the 19th century one of the largest Riad or courtyard gardens in Marakech. It includes 2 courtyards, the largest of which has been restored as an Islamic paradise garden, based on pure geometry and koranic symbolism and the smaller as an exotic garden, filled with plants coming from all over the world.
The designer was responsible for the general layout of the garden and the planting design, working closely with local nurseries.
Islamic gardens were seen as an oasis of peace for rest, rejunevation and contemplation thanks to the shade of the trees and the intimacy of the enclosed space.
Take a look at some of these pictures, if you're over that way could worth a visit!
