Corten Steel terraces and pools, for something different...
By John Brennan, 19/06/2020
What do you think of these corten steel terraces and pools?
We think they're pretty cool. This is a huge garden in Calfornia designed by Surfacedesign but something on a much smaller scale could be incorporated into a garden over here in the UK where plots are generally of a more modest size.
These raised pools are lined with cobbles and banks of Equisetum hyemale are planted alongside them, set against Corten steel walls with a ridged texture which reflects the vertical lines of the planting.
The terraces are planted with silvery leaved lavender and Artemisia that are set off beautifully against the burnt orange of the steel.
It’s always interesting to see what’s happening in other countries with garden design and California tends to be a place where new trends are set…
