Hepworth Gallery Wakefield Garden is now open!

The first phase of the Hepworth Gallery Wakefield is now open.

The Hepworth Wakefield Garden, designed by internationally acclaimed landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, is a beautifully landscaped garden free for all to enjoy.

The garden has a rolling programme of outdoor sculptures, special events and commissions.

The first sculptures installed in the garden are works by Lynn Chadwick, Rebecca Warren, Michael Craig-Martin and Barbara Hepworth.

October is the time to be putting in your spring flowering bulbs!

If you want your garden to be coming to life in spring before many other plants are ready to flower why not plant some bulbs between the plants you have in already or in pots?

Tulips, Daffodils, Fritillaria and all other spring flowering bulbs can be planted throughout September, October and November.

Turning Your Compost

Compost heap looking a little, well, uncomposted? It’s time to get physical and turn it over, introducing more air to speed up decomposition. Check for slow worms, hedgehogs and other beasties first, then mix everything up with a spade or fork. If it’s slimy, add shredded cardboard. If you have the time it's good to do it once a week.
